Kathleen Emerling,
MC, LPC
Kathleen has been in private practice at Scottsdale Psychological Associates since 2002. She received her undergraduate degrees in Communication and Sociology from Arizona State University and her Masters degree in Clinical Counseling from the University of Phoenix. She completed internship programs at Family Service Agency and Salvation Army Rehabilitation Center, in Phoenix, Arizona.
Kathleen is a Licensed Professional Counselor and nationally Board Certified counselor working with adults, children, adolescents, couples, groups, and families. Her areas of specialty include anxiety disorders, depression, mood disorders, self-esteem, grief, women’s issues, chemical dependency, anger and stress management, and relationship issues.
Kathleen has previously worked as a juvenile court counselor through the Arizona Department of Corrections. She also was lead clinician at Terros Behavioral Health Services working with the severely mentally ill and she facilitated support groups at Sojourner Center for domestic violence.
Kathleen’s treatment modality is primarily cognitive-behavioral but also implements reality and problem solution strategies as she believes that a family system’s approach often helps individuals’ gain greater understanding of themselves and the world around them.
Kathleen is a member of the American Counseling Association, the Arizona Counseling Association and is an American Red Cross Disaster Specialist assisting in local and national trauma counseling.
