Norine received her Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology from the University of California at Los Angeles. She then went on to receive her Masters and Doctorate in Clinical Psychology from the University of Southern California. She completed her internship program in Florida at the University of Miami/Jackson Memorial Medical Center with major rotations at the Child Outpatient Clinic and the Adult Outpatient Clinic. She also did minor rotations in Pediatric Psychology (brain and spinal cord injured children and adolescents) and the Adult Inpatient unit. Norine moved to Arizona and completed her Post-Doctoral Residency at the Phoenix Indian Medical Center, where she provided outpatient services to a Native American population both at the hospital and at two local reservations.
Since 2004, Norine has worked exclusively in a private practice setting and enjoys working with children, adolescents, adults, families, and couples. Her areas of expertise include family issues, parenting concerns, relationship issues, life transitions, child behavior and adjustment problems including Attention Deficit Disorder, anxiety, and depression, among others. She also has experience working with culturally diverse groups.
Norine believes the therapeutic relationship is critical to the therapeutic process and she believes in working collaboratively with her clients. She values human dignity and helps to foster a safe, trusting, and mutually respectful environment from the moment the client steps into her office until the day the client “graduates” from therapy.
To gain a more comprehensive perspective, Norine has worked in a variety of settings including hospitals, university-based community-oriented clinics, schools, and reservations. She has a great deal of experience working as part of a multi-disciplinary team with other professionals including psychiatrists, educational specialists, physical, occupational, and speech therapists, and child life specialists. Norine has also served as Program Coordinator for a university-based in-home treatment program which served children and families referred by Child Protective Services.
Although Norine was trained mainly in cognitive-behavioral therapy, she has been exposed to many other therapeutic orientations and considers herself more eclectic in her style. She draws from a variety of therapeutic orientations and tools to help each individual client based on his/her own specific needs. Norine also takes a holistic approach with each client. A treatment plan is tailored specifically to the client’s particular needs and desired outcomes with treatment goals monitored during the therapeutic process.
Norine is a member of the American Psychological Association and the Arizona Psychological Association. She sees private pay as well as insurance referred clients.
